Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the appropriate procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient supervision of underground in-seam directional drilling operations including:

applying manufacturer’s requirements and procedures

interpreting project site geological and hydrological data

interpreting project engineering survey information

interpreting project plans, drawings and specifications

preparing and conducting of briefings, toolbox and site meeting

preparing short messages

preparing and present job reports

preparing and maintain log books and diaries

providing leadership

applying performance monitoring skills

applying troubleshooting skills

applying problem solving skills

works effectively with others to plan, prepare and conduct underground in-seam directional drilling operations including:

communicating clear and timely instructions to those involved

preparing for and conducting briefings, toolbox and site meetings

maintaining clear and legible written records and the reports

demonstrates consistent timely successful supervision of underground in-seam directional drilling operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meet all of the required outcomes on a minimum of one (1) occasion including:

development of an implementation action plan, in consultation with team members

execution of operations

acquiring and making available the necessary resources for the safe, effective and efficient conduct of the operations

providing advice to team members to overcome operational problems encountered during the execution of operations

completion of an improvement assessment report, in consultation with team members

identifying training requirements of team members and implementing training plans


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in supervising underground in-seam directional drilling operations through:

accessing, interpreting and applying legislative, organization and site requirement and procedures for:
